The 2026 Breeders' Cup World Championships run Friday and Saturday, October 30 and 31, at Keeneland in Lexington, Kentucky, racing's fourth time hosting the event. Fourteen Grade 1 races, worth more than $30 million in purses, decide a world champion in nearly every category of Thoroughbred racing: sprinters, milers, turf and dirt horses, fillies and mares, and the open-division Classic that closes the meet. Friday's five races, known as Future Stars Friday, are for two-year-olds only; Saturday's nine are open to three-year-olds and up.
The schedule below is Breeders' Cup's own, as posted on its website. The organization says the final official race order and post times are not locked in until October 21, 2026, so check breederscup.com again close to raceday before you plan around a specific time.

No row matches that.
Every race carries a Breeders' Cup name (the Longines Breeders' Cup Classic, the FanDuel Mile, and so on); this table uses the division name. Post times are Breeders' Cup's own posted schedule as of October 2026 and are subject to change before the final order is released on October 21.
The Classic, the richest and last race of the meet at $7 million, anchors Saturday's card at 6:16 p.m. ET. The Turf, at $5 million and 1 1/2 miles, is the longest race on the program; the Juvenile Turf Sprint and the Turf Sprint, both 5.5 furlongs, are the shortest.
How a horse earns a starting spot
Most Breeders' Cup fields are filled through the Win and You're In Challenge Series: 95 designated stakes races in 14 countries in 2026, each one carrying an automatic Breeders' Cup berth, and usually a travel allowance, to its winner. A horse that wins one of these races does not have to pre-qualify by points or ranking; it simply has a guaranteed spot entered for it. Winning a Challenge Series race is not the same as being favored to win at the Breeders' Cup itself, a distinction why a Win and You're In victory doesn't mean what bettors think it means works through with real examples.
Where to watch
NBC, Peacock and USA Network carry 10.5 hours of live coverage of all 14 championship races. Friday's card airs 1 to 6 p.m. ET on USA Network; Saturday runs 1 to 3:30 p.m. ET on USA, then moves to NBC and Peacock from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. ET for the Turf and the Classic. FanDuel TV and the Breeders' Cup's own digital and social channels carry continuous coverage of both days beyond the network windows.
Betting the Breeders' Cup
Wagering on Breeders' Cup day works the same way as any other day at Keeneland: win, place and show bets, and the exotic bets (exacta, trifecta, superfecta) and multi-race bets described in exotic wagering for beginners, at whatever minimums and takeout rates Keeneland posts for the meet. With 14 Grade 1 fields and international shippers in nearly every race, the same arithmetic that makes a 20-horse Kentucky Derby field expensive to box applies here, often across smaller fields but at longer odds.
After Keeneland: Belmont Park in 2027
The Breeders' Cup named its hosts for both years at once: Keeneland for 2026, Belmont Park for 2027, announced May 28, 2025. The 2027 World Championships run October 29 and 30 at the rebuilt Belmont Park, which also hosts the 2027 Belmont Stakes.
